About the project

This project widened an 11 kilometre stretch of the Bruce Highway from four to six lanes between Caboolture-Bribie Island Road and Steve Irwin Way (Exit 163). Niepe was engaged to deliver four bridges and one retaining wall over a 5.7 kilometre section of the Bruce Highway.

Project scope

Construction of bridges over Lagoon Creek and King Johns Creek.

Upgrade of existing interchange at Caboolture Bribie Island Road, the D’Aguilar Highway and Pumicestone Road.

Temporary works erection of access platforms and stretcher stair systems based on Acrow designs.

Outcomes

Bridgeworks to Transport and Main Roads specifications comprising a five-span 27.5 metre long bridge adjacent to M1 Pacific Motorway.

Use of Niepe’s truss screed allowed for efficient pouring of bridge decks spanning over 25 metres in width and 30 metres in length. This reduced the time required to pour, ultimately reducing program and costs.
