About the project

The Three Chain Road and Dawson Highway Upgrade in Moura, Central Queensland, featured a 75-meter Humes BEBO Arch. Completed mid-2020 for Anglo American, this $27 million project allowed heavy 630-tonne mine haul trucks to drive over the top of the backfilled arch, while local public vehicles safely passed underneath along Three Chain Road.


Project scope

Niepe completed FRP works for the 200m3 concrete footings and assisted with the Installation of the 22 tonnes precast BEBO arches spanning over 75 metres.

Outcomes

Successfully delivered complex FRP works for the construction of the 75 metre precast BEBO Arch structure, meeting stringent quality and engineering requirements.

Maintained program milestones, enabling the timely completion of the arch and facilitating the transition of the mine's primary haulage fleet onto the new crossing.

Maintained excellent safety performance, completing high-risk lifting, formwork and concrete activities with effective planning and risk management while adhering to the design requirements by a third-party certifier.
