About the project

Niepe was engaged to construct a new bridge downstream from the heritage-listed Mt Crosby Weir Bridge, originally constructed in 1927. The upgrade saw improved traffic flow and flood resilience over the Brisbane River at Mt Crosby.

Project scope

Installation of temporary work platforms on the Brisbane River.

Installation of a 187 metre long bridge over the river, 3 metres higher than the existing bridge.

Form, reinforcement and pour (FRP) of substructure and superstructure.

Outcomes

Facilitated safe working platforms for workforce to perform construction activities.

120 bridge beams installed.

Supported two-way vehicle traffic over the Brisbane River.

Improved flood recovery, reducing traffic bottleneck in Mt Crosby.

Use of Niepe’s truss screed allowed for efficient pouring of bridge decks spanning over 25 metres in width and 30 metres in length.
